What we think
This restaurant was evaluated at 11,5 points and 1 toque while Nicolaie Tomescu was its head-chef. Tomescu ceased his collaboration with the restaurant starting with May 15, 2018. The restaurant will be re-visited before the next edition of the Gault&Millau guide.
At Vinto, a gastro-winebar in the city center, you can get to know a lot of wines and beers by Romanian producers, which you may enjoy alongside Chef Nicolaie Tomescu’s delightful dishes. The à la carte menu features poached sous-vide tuna with quinoa and caramelized carrot, the Build Your Plate menu has grilled meat and fish with your choice of sides like potato Dauphinoise or baked vegetables, and the wine pairing menu proposes carpaccio of deer with truffle and orange, with a glass of Primitivo del Salento 2015. The food puts you in a festive yet homey mood: the homemade papardelle with shrimp and basil go flawlessly with a grassy vinho verde, and in the sous-vide duck leg with mint, millet, poached kohlrabi and pickled radish, the contrasting flavors bounce off merrily with each other.
